Poetry News Post #49

Quixotic

Written by: Squire Accendus, Knight Probate

I hear
And I hear echoes
Of an age, an age long gone.
I hear the clang of swords
And the clash of shields
The thud of arrows
And the gush of blood.

I see
And I see heralds
Lions rampant on sable fields
Croix and etoiles, gules and blanc
Shining greaves and burning eyes
Splendant helms upon ageless brows.

I dream
As I feel anguish
The lies, the filth, the broken pledge
The hatred and cruelty
And subterfuge, vice
The lives, towns, countries down in flames
And human values, tattered rags.

-Accendus
This is the reason why I live Achaea.
Because it's not a game.
It's a practise run.
A new start.
Thankyou.

Feedback, maybe?
Maybe we cannot change the world, but we can make Achaea a better place.

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Daedalan, in the year 243 AF.
