Into the darkness
Anguished I fled
My face awash
With the tears I shed
For a man who swore he'd never let me go

Unbearable pain
Gripped my chest
So it was there
I did my best
To plunge the blade and bid my blood to flow

But to my dismay
Death fled from me
The blade dropping
Harmlessly
From my traitorous hand and to the ground below

"Why, my Lord?"
I cried in vain
"Take my soul
And stop this pain."
Defiant I let my disappointment show

The Lord of Souls
Master of Death
The Inevitable
Spared my breath
And I knew then it was not my time to go

So I went back out
That very night
Stripped of my clothes
In the full moonlight
My skin reflecting the pale unearthly glow

With the colour of death
Upon my skin
I swayed and danced
In honour of Him
Till exhaustion finally bid my movements slow

Dropping down
On bended knees
My heart set free
My mind at ease
Filled with thoughts of Him and not of sorrow

So because of Him
I will go on
Till to His realms
I'm called upon
The time of which is only for Him to know

-Ripley

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Chronos, in the year 569 AF.
