Pretence

Written by: Father Herenicus Coldraven

An earnest warning for Her foes,
Magnanimously predisposed,
And though Her dust hath yet to rest,
See gentle Shallam at Her best.

An Eastern eunuch now reveals,
How far we stray from our ideals,
If three with Northern men align,
See mighty Mhaldor undermined.

Oh, citizen, we beg of thee,
Extending our apology,
And censuring the motley crew,
That so provoked thy cry and hue.

Now reconciling from the raid,
Permit thy kindness be repaid,
A problem halved when such is shared,
And thou inspired when first thou cared.

How famously thy brave heart holds,
To edicts that thy Church extols,
But wonder, thou seems bosom friends,
With murdering Eleusians?

Without a smile, thou make demands,
Consorting with yon blood-stained hands,
With Jaiko, Naix, all Qashar,
Still whoring homes as whores they are.

Be thee less vociferous,
When e'er our Western faults discuss,
Lest thee unwanted notice gain,
Thy noble pretences made plain.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Scarlatan, in the year 524 AF.
