Muse

I've searched the dusty corners of my head
The dark and lonely chambers of my heart
I've prayed to dream of you when I'm abed
And yearned for you when scribbling at my art

If you've deserted me forevermore
Then I desire to know how I have sinned
Perhaps it's just that I've become a bore
And finally has your patience with me thinned

But without poesy, how can I abide?
It's been a golden ribbon through the years
And now that inspiration's left my side
My reason for existing disappears

O Muse! Return to me, I do implore
We'll dance in clever couplets 'cross the page
Let's bide in lyric beauty as before
You can alone this agony assuage

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Daedalan, in the year 508 AF.
