Alone

Alone

Glitter, flicker, in the skies-
Stars, you are my shining guides,
for out here on the Southern Road,
those who wander do so alone.

I dare not take others with me on my way,
for to do so is to challenge their fate.
Death is my companion, he walks at my side
as I trek through Sapience, far and wide.

Parched alone on some rocky land,
or deep below the sun burned sand,
I know the scorpions and harpies well.
They've died to me, and I, to them as well.

So speak not to me of love or family,
for I have no lovers or foster kin
Friends I have many, like Ophilia or Jala,
but I've come to realize- they're all denizens.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Chronos, in the year 506 AF.
