A poem for my child

This is for my son, Cinn Leiflein-LastGoodbye.

I wish I could've been there
I would've kept you warm
Never would've let you fall
I'd have kept you from the storm

I really should've been there
To hold you as you cried
To let you know that you were loved
And were a source of pride.

But now, my darling son, you're gone
And there is nothing left
Without your smiling face in sight
We really are bereft.

I wish that I had been there,
To watch you through your night
My son, I would have been your shield,
I would have fought your fight.

But now all that's left of you
Are tears and memories,
I hope you know I miss you so,
But I will cherish these.

From your loving father.
Rest in Peace, my boy.

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Sarapin, in the year 496 AF.
