Forest's Prayer

Dawn heralded a bright new day,
one bringing change for those in glade.
All were solemn, no time for play,
as troll walked in with infant maid.

He laid the babe on catkin bed,
once more an ambered autumn hue.
He looked around the place he'd wed
and knew time had come to renew.

Creatures knelt in rev'rent stillness,
troll softly whisp'ring heartfelt prayer.
He asked Divine this place to bless,
to aide Nature in Her repair.

All stayed knelt in devout silence,
ignoring babe, softly wailing.
A mist slowly fell, thick and dense,
cov'ring all in silver veiling.

In the air hung mystic aura,
lights of shimmering, vivid green.
Mist rose, showing new grown flora,
something else unexpected seen.

In the glade where babe was laying
now stood maid, voice soft and lilting
Troll stopped and stared, body swaying
all strength used in him not wilting.

Maid continued her gentle song,
Forest stunned, the song reviving
The flora grew, green, tall, and strong,
surrounding she who was striving.

Song continued throughout the night,
maid holding babe tightly embraced.
Dawn would end this renewing rite
maid's life with forest's interlaced.

Dawn heralded a bright new day,
one bringing change for those in glade.
All were solemn, no time for play,
as troll walked in with infant maid.

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Sarapin, in the year 484 AF.
