Midnight Song

Midnight Song (Sarabande Sonnet)
--------------------------------

A blanket, purely midnight blue,
Is shimmering with magic light
As stars sing soft of love that's true.

I'm swaying to their tune with you
While in your eyes a silver hue
Enchants me with a glorious glow;
It keeps me warm on silken snow.

But dawn winks out the stellar theme
With radiant rays; they're cruelly bright
To shake me from denial's dream.

Your ghostly shape fades in the gleam.
Beside your grave I sigh my scream
To mourn my loss and curse the gold
That makes me freeze in winter's cold.

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Scarlatan, in the year 457 AF.
