You conspire against me with physics

I wake to shake the blood back into my limbs
flailing awkwardly like a vodun puppet;
arms akimbo, legs askew -
eyes pressed shut because the sunlight
does not exist for me until you will it to.
I inhale deeply, exhale, sigh, then gasp
since evidently oxygen is another molecule
extant only in the silhouette of your shadow.
(You said you'd open my eyes but you lied
when you said *you* were the source of all light and hope.)
I gasp for hope since respiration at this moment is denied me
as in this moment between time
there is only space (just where is this place?)
as the pendulum hangs frozen and I melt
into some semblance of a mortal being -
being what, exactly? A puddle of blood on the floor?
Pull yourself together girl.
Reaching wide to gather myself up in my arms
I fall, almost casually, back into harm's way.
How could I believe I could just run away
with every step and every action
propagating an equal and opposite reaction
driving me further towards the point
of no return, the front of your event horizon.
Don't you see? I had no choice but to stay.
Gravity sucks.

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Mayan, in the year 449 AF.
