The Sea

One of our Tunesmiths set me a gentle challenge to see "if the old Bard
still had it in him". He set the subject, and I improvised the first
verse there and then... I promised to post the rest within 2 months...
instead, it gets posted within a day...
Dedicated to Soulfyriani, for the inspiration...
The Sea
Dark as the night that lies before the dawn
And as restless as my sleep
Your waves that cover - a cloak closely worn
Bear me to your silent deeps.
Foam that crashes upon an empty shore
Call me to a watery stair
And far beneath, at the ocean's floor
Release me from despair.
I make my way down to the beach
To hear your siren call
You beckon with a deep blue reach
Into your arms I fall
Your darkness takes me swiftly
In your embrace tight bound
You grant me passage in my quest
...And peace have I now found.
Penned by my hand on the 4th of Glacian, in the year 444 AF.
