Envy in Duet
------------

A wealthy man of commerce passes by
Frowning at the children on the lane.
The beggar children watch with greedy eyes.

Their freedom is well worth a bit of pain
As they will never know the stress he feels.
Frowning at the children on the lane

The man decides they've got the better deal.
They have a freedom he will never know,
And they will never know the stress he feels.

Yet still their hungry eyes beg him for more.
They may be poor but they are free as birds.
They have a freedom he will never know.

The wealthy man then tosses them some bills.
Incomprehension on his face because
They may be poor but they are free as birds

And he is shackled - which is clearly worse.
A wealthy man of commerce passes by.
Incomprehension on his face because
The beggar children watch with greedy eyes.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Mayan, in the year 439 AF.
