"Song of a Drifting Leaf"

I beg everyone's indulgence. Perhaps this old cat is delusional in
thinking she can pen these simple lines, being only an untrained, rogue
forestal. And yet, she finds that these paws ever itch to etch
experience and impressions in lines.
----
"Song of a Drifting Leaf"
Once, craving life beyond forests and bees.
Drifts fallen leaf upon clear Aalen stream
Resigned and old, she runs back to the trees.
Gripped by hiraeth, druidic home would she flee
Walking away from a desolate dream
Once, craving life beyond forests and bees.
Tempted by rich wine of wild, wind-tossed seas
Touched by compassion of Vundamere's gleam
Resigned and old, she runs back to the trees.
The lure of pack's strength, and fellowship's ease
Fast-shifting Trisagia's inconstant beam
Once, craving life beyond forests and bees.
Beauty inherent from the rose to the flea
Whisk'd feet to their halls on a wistful whim
Resigned and old, she runs back to the trees.
She finds spontaneous lines, penned with joy and glee
Turned frigid and cold `neath a civilized beam
Once, craving life beyond forests and bees.
Resigned and old, she runs back to the trees.
Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Glacian, in the year 423 AF.
