A reaction to "Rosalind's Madrigal"
Were I to "Lodge" some poetry
For one not Rosalind to see
To show I shared the sentiment
That one once to that fair one sent,
It would not cross my mind to fail
To credit him whose words don't pale
Even across the centuries
To set my readers' minds at ease
That I sought only to declare
My love for one I thought was fair
And not to claim words as my own
That lend to "Thomas" his renown.
And yet, in love, ones thoughts may fly
From serious matters by and by.
I surely mean here no offence
But feel there is some recompense
By way of an apology
Owed to the readers who might see
That work refered to and not know
That thought from "Nimble" pen did flow
But words were chosen long before
And by another. I say more:
Recite love poems at your pleasure.
Credit those posted for good measure.
Penned by my hand on the 21st of Lupar, in the year 414 AF.
