A Day in the Woods

A Day in the Woods - for the Druids of the Aalen

O, the woods at sunrise beam
A smile from shining teeth that gleam
And sparkle thus from leafy lake
That doth with golden diamonds teem.

O, the woods at noon awake.
My eyes to fill, my thirst to slake.
The songs of woodland folk imply
This peace they hold, I might partake.

O, the woods at twilight sigh
A breath through boughs that whisper high -
A lover's gown that rustles bold
As Maya's zephyrs travel by.

O, the woods at night enfold
While trading riches yet unsold -
Moon of silver, sun of gold.
Me, in thine ancient slumbers hold.
