A stone will change a river's course;
a breeze will fell a mighty tree;
the ocean wears away the shore;
but what is all of this to me?

A raindrop gives the rosebud life;
a sunbeam melts the bitter frost;
a robin's song will wake the day;
and yet, on me, all this is lost.

A candle lights the darkest night;
its warmth will soothe the greatest fears;
its flame will cleanse the deepest sin;
but can it chase away my tears?

A word may shape a young man's life;
the simplest act could ease his pain;
a kind embrace might thaw his heart;
for even I can smile again.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Ero, in the year 407 AF.
