Family Tree

The family tree is rotting,
Dead inside hollow core.
The bark's been slowly eaten through,
The core exposed all the more.

The tree it bears no fruit,
Though bad apples are not few.
Though they're perfect, red, and shiny,
Disgusting worms run through.

The roots choke out intruders,
No other plants can live.
The people say "What a pretty tree."
The irony life can give.

Illusion runs rampant,
No evil shines through.
Beware this tree, it binds you,
Its seeds make trees anew.
