Just another sad little poem

Shards
-------

Like the tears of a silent sorrow
Scattered by the winds of memory
Yet still too much for me to forget
The shards of your broken promises

Long ago, beneath a starlit sky,
I dared to free my heart and dream
But now those dreams lie tattered by time
Like shards of too many broken promises

A crystal vase to hold the rose of love
Into this we poured our hopes for happiness
Now it lies shattered by the spectre of betrayal
Like the glittering shards of broken promises

Once I thought that love would last forever
But you since taught me how wrong I had been
Now all that remains is for my heart to clear away
All the shards of the broken promises you made to me.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Chronos, in the year 403 AF.
