A Lonely Knight

A weary warrior, knight in armour,
Staggers into town, late at night.
He asks for a room, they say 'Alright.'
But t'was not the answer that he adored.

She stood, tempting, seductive,
Beautiful lady, beautiful fur.
Her eyes enchanted him,
Though it was not him, she noticed.

A Bard had caught her fancy,
So small, and weak, and pancy,
His beauty was chancy.

I walked to the girl,
My hair started to curl.
I was a bit nervous,
But who couldn't be?

A Bard had caught her fancy,
So small, and weak, and pancy,
His beauty was chancy.

Her beauty entranced me,
As she said 'Hello'.
My mouth agape,
I was lost, my heart aglow.

My adrenaline rushed,
My courage returned,
I said my name
To that fair dame.

A Bard had caught her fancy,
So small, and weak, and pancy,
His beauty was chancy.

She replied, 'I'm taken'
"But surely you are mistaken?'
'I saw you gawk at that Bard,"
My head was down, my heart lower.

A change of heart, a change of mind,
She spoke to me, "You are mine!"
I looked up, my heart in my throat,
My dream come true, my mind was afloat!

A Bard had caught her fancy,
So small, and weak, and pancy,
His beauty was chancy.

I took her hand, we left the inn.
We went to a meadow, wherein,
We spoke of family, of hobbies and interest,
And the things we each liked best.

But to my dismay, she had to leave,
Before I told her I could weave.
The morn next, ne'er did I see,
That beautiful girl, who was with me.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Glacian, in the year 401 AF.
