Through Her Companion's Eyes

How do you say good-bye
When you've sworn never to leave her?
How do you say good-bye
When all you want to do is stay beside her?
How do you say good-bye
When you know you'll never again see her?

You say it with your touch, so soft
As you lay her down beneath you
You say it with your kiss, banked fires
As your lips touch hers so softly
You say it with your eyes, only smiling
Showing her your love, and passion

How do you keep from crying
When she looks at you so trustingly?
How do you keep from crying
As she softly whispers her love for you?
How do you keep from crying
When you see the knowing she tries to hide?

You do it by distraction, sweet pleasure
You join your bodies so swiftly, deeply
You do it by not thinking about tomorrow
Just memorizing her every curve, and kiss
You do it by sheer will, and a lover's strength
For you know it would confirm her fears

What could drag you away from her
When you know she's the mate of your soul?
What could drag you away from her
When you suspect she's with your babe?
What could drag you away from her
When you know she'll be left alone?

It could never be another woman
For it is your wife who fills your thoughts
It could never be an urge for adventure
For her sweet depths you'll never tire of exploring
It could only be honour, and bravery
That would make you leave to do what is right.

How can you find your way back to her
For death is the unbreakable enemy?
How can you find your way back to her
When your body lies cold on the hill?
How can you find your way back to her
From the fields of Paradise and Nectar Sweet?

You do it through sheer will
For even death cannot stop your love
You do it through exploration
You'll try every avenue to exhaustion
You do it through her dreams
For you exist there now, in her sorrow

What do you tell her when you see her
That first time and she realises that its true?
What do you tell her when you see her
Knowing you can only hold her until she awakes?
What do you tell her when you see her
And she tells you of your child, Honor?

You hold her close and whisper your love
For thats how you greeted her every morn
You kiss her to distraction, and laugh
Then reassure her that one day it'll be for always
You give a cocky grin, and then begin a tale
You cannot hold the babe, but she can still know you

All this you do at night, for your love for her is true
For the night is yours to love her sweetly, to talk and laugh
To speak of when her dreams will become reality
For though you ended violently, she'll end ever sweetly
Then you'll take her hand and walk with her
Making your own reality- sweetly, softly, eternally.
