The Great Sapience Love Triangle

Triangular Love: A Mysia Love Saga

Cedric row your boat ashore,
I said, and clambered on to the isle
where wenches dwell and sea dogs sleep
and life is full of bile.

There I met a lusty pirate bloke,
who offered ale and some words
about two lasses and a rogue
who by now I'm sure everyone has heard.

Not-so-young lovers, chaos crossed,
and hunted, they camped out in the clouds.
The two were joined in every bad deed,
from thieving to rousting bed shrouds.

Daily they exchanged their vows of otherworldly love,
poems meant only for betwixt the two;
Until the day a new lass appeared
and severed the rogue's heart in two.

Summoning her strength the first wench bristled,
and told all the isle about their affair.
Then declaiming their connection she swore
up and down - he was gone and she didn't care!

Yet rumors spread as rumors do
among the isle of those seafaring folk.
And it wasn't long before the she said/he said
evolved into one giant joke.

But the rogue just went on with life,
and met a new, busty dancing wench.
They shared a flagon of rum, and when all was done,
he'd forgotten the first lass's stench.

A distant cousin of a firedancer
of notorious Sapience acclaim,
his new love wiggled at dawn, at eve,
and rekindled his heart's flame.

Alas, no more poems did the rogue pen,
though his heart was burning anew.
For he had too much to read in his spare time;
the first wench had scribed a journal or two!

Their affair she made seem tawdry
and his secrets did she expose.
How violent and green is a woman's heart
when another steps on her toes.

The moral of this story is worth figuring out,
and could have shunned all the fighting,
said the pirate in my ear: "Kiss once for love, twice for lust,
and never put a darn thing in writing!!!"
