Whispers of the evening tide

Whispers of the evening tide
That on the gentle zephyrs ride
Telling of those who lived and died
Upon the cruel sea.

Tears in a woman's eyes
As lonely in her bed she lies
No chance to say her last goodbyes
To a man she will never see.

On the sill, a candle burns
In the breeze it twists and turns
Of a man's fate it slowly learns
And what has come to be.

Here I lie in the ocean deep
Resting in my timeless sleep
The ocean's bounty I came to reap
But the bounty, it seems, was me.

Whispers of the evening tide
That on the gentle zephyrs ride
Telling of those who lived and died
Upon the cruel sea.

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Ero, in the year 398 AF.
