Sweet Child

Note- I guess this came about because I'm near child-bearing age, and
eager for a little one, or two, or seven. Or it could be the fact that I
was commissioned to write a love piece, and this one just naturally
followed. Who knows. Artists are weird.

Sweet Child

Sweet babe, dash away your tears
Turn your eyes to my kind smile
Listen to the words to soothe you
She's gone, and I miss her as much as you

Lovely toddler, you're ne'er alone
I'll be here always to chase away the pain
And she, up there, where angels soar
Will watch you ever, night and day

Blooming child, unfolding glory
Your time has come to greet the sun
Step out from behind sorrow's wings
and lift your face to the light

Young woman, rebellious imp
Razored tongue and so-sharp wit
You'll take the world by storm
If from the boys you can away

Starry-eyed bride, but still my child
I wondered how I'd greet this day
As I walk you down this covered aisle
To greet your groom, to give you away

Mother and wife, beloved daughter
The joy so sweet it pains me deep
To think how you've come into your own
Will you need me any more?

Woman complete, with silver in your hair
Why do you sorrow, tears on your cheeks
I have hid the pain and tears as slowly I died
Its time reunite with my heart's desire

My sweet cherub, with sorrow I greet
To join us here so soon seems wrong
But dash away your tears, beloved child
For it is not right to see an angel cry

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Glacian, in the year 396 AF.
