"Alone in Love"
I lie half-adrift in dreams
Within arm's reach of my love
Yet farther from him than ever
With eyes that do not see
With a voice that will not come
With a heart that can no longer feel
And I wonder to myself
If I cried out his name, would he hear me?
If I threw myself at his feet, would he notice?
If I told him I loved him, would he believe me?
If I reached out to him, would he feel my touch?
Or should I just wither in silence
Never to say the words that should be said
Merely to shed in silence my tears
Merely to suffer a needless pain
Merely to tell myself
This too shall pass
For what is love
But the sweetest pain of all?
Penned by my hand on the 8th of Lupar, in the year 394 AF.
