Okies..so it's more of a story..but meh
One day, while on my journey through the woods
I saw a pretty butterfly.
He was sitting upon a log, and I said to myself
Wouldnt he make such a nice pet?
So I decided that butterfly would be mine.
I got myself a net, not too big but not too small
And in one smooth swoop I caught him.
He didnt flutter or fret, as he sat inside my net,
So I took him home and made a place for him
Night next to my bedside.
I watched him daily, grow bigger and stronger
Never thinking one day his cage would be too small.
For this was no ordinary butterfly,
But one of such intense beauty and charm
One with dreams, and desires to live life.
Each day the little butterfly fluttered about his cage
And each day I watched him in awe.
He was magnificent, with gorgeous wings,
That were just dying to stretch themselves out
And explore the world.
But I kept him close, thinking if only I held a bit longer
He'd never want to leave.
So I watched him grow, and spread his wings,
Giving him everything I could, anything I thought he'd want,
Not realizing that what he wanted most of all was to be free.
One day I gazed upon his cage, watching those
Magnifigant wings flutter in the breeze.
I smiled broadly as he turned to me and watched
Sadly as the gorgeous creature drooped sadly
Turning back to gaze out the window.
I realized at that time I could no longer keep my friend,
He wasnt meant to be at my side forever,
Our time, though grand, needed to be cut short.
It was inevitable, though my happiness lie with him....
It was time for him to fly free.
