Love Lost in Cyrene

I feel the tension in the air, lifted up my eyes,
Clouds of violet ominous in the skies
Awful, I know, and it never bode well
Taug was raised, and drops of blood fell

But alas, naught there is for me to do
Shuddering at crimson on silk of white and blue
Right off to the baths for me, it was
Well--really, I like soaking even without cause

So, being quite the laziest girl around
I send a tell to hail the driver down

Over he rushes, with a doff of his jaunty hat
His speedy arrival startling a grizzled rat
I flash him a smile, in his strange-looking suit
Slip him some coins and a quick hug to boot.

"Baths," I say, and to my great surprise
"Say hi to Sulis for me," he dreamily asks
His mind drifts away, I beam at the task

I step into the carriage, and on this quick ride
I find myself thinking with a smile I can't hide
How cute it would be, I think with a grin
To see those to express the love that's within

I hop out at the baths, and feel the steam swirl
I walk in to find that sweet towel girl
I notice again, in near envy, her calm bright cheer
Her simple beauty, sparkling eyes, ready ear

I chuckle a bit, and murmur "Driver" slyly
She feigns nonchalance, acting highly
She insists, earnest, that they are not one
I know it's an act, and she's wanting to run

Then she asks how he is, and gazes in deep
And when to him I say her name, he starts to weep
"It's over!" His voice begins to catch

Now when I see either, I ponder hard this:
How can I help the driver and Sulis?

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Daedalan, in the year 389 AF.
