Lucia's Admiration

Oh, if only my hair were
Just a shade cuter,
He might not peer askance,
But at me with his loving glance!

With his eye he might bask in me
As I bask in him,
That wonderful, wholesome eye,
I swear to it I can tell no lie!

But not today, oh look at me!
Not a hand in the world,
To help with housekeeping chores
Oh Gods, here comes some more!

Thought I might go a rattin'
Just to bring him a gift,
But with these feasts they have about
I just need someone to help me out!

It's toil I tell you, but I
Do it for him...
And sneak him the dregs
From fine wines and kegs!

For it fills my heart with mirth
Just to hear him say,
'Tis my job to keep this city clean,
Oh, I just wish I were to be seen!
