City of Mysteries, City of Secrets

Listen while I tell you of a city
Swathed in colours of red and black
Red her passion and vigour and splendour
Black, well let's just see about that

A quiet city, a tiny city
No lovers walk beneath the moon
But unbeknownst to many who pass by
Behind closed doors the lovers swoon

Beyond the lust of this shadowed city
Stand loyal men with piercing eyes
Each with a gladius always wielded
To save Her streets from deadly lies

He guards the city, protects the city
And sees all who enter or leave
He met me there and confronted me there
Ensured I wasn't to decieve

With stuttered speech he showed me his city
Showed me Her laws so highly prized
Showed me Her popular market centre
I did not buy, he was surprised

He led me around his silent city
Helped me finish one simple quest
And even though I didn't reside there
I always felt a welcome guest

A guarded city, a private city
Where laws are given utmost heed
But one may still see glimmers of kindness
Shown towards a novice in need

Mysterious city, secret city
Of blackened hearts and scarlet dreams
Her reputation, however fearsome,
May not be as true as it seems.

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Ero, in the year 387 AF.
