Reflections

In a mirror,
I see the man that others see.
Only the surface shows
To a flat glass.

In the water,
I see the man I was.
Unformed, untried,
Diffused by ripples.

In the gaze of my love,
I see the man I hope to be.
Honest, true and worthy,
Always in her gaze.

In my mind's eye,
I see the man I am.
All is laid bare,
If I have the courage to look.

In each reflection,
A part of me is found.
Like shattered fragments
Of some larger mirror.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Phaestian, in the year 384 AF.
