The Mathematics of Love

How do I count the numbers of love?
The answer, I find, is one.
One love for me, eternal
Until my life is done.

How do I count the numbers of love?
The answer, I find, is two.
Two perfect lips pressed into mine,
Two little words - "I do".

Two hearts that beat together
In the stillness of the night.
Two eyes that ever gaze at me,
Sparkling, starry bright.

How do I count the numbers of love?
The answer, I find, is none.
No-one could ever bind my soul
The way that you have done.

No-one else could hold my love
All through the night and day.
No-one could make me happier
As, in your arms, I lay.

How do I count the numbers of love?
An infinite progression
Spending time in every day,
Learning of Love's lesson.

And in my mind I have
A single burning vision.
While there may be addition,
Let there never be division.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Miraman, in the year 378 AF.
