The Statue of Zarathustra

Zarathustra preserved in regal stone,
Ashtan's glory in sculpted might,
Zarathustra preserved, he stands alone.

Though Thoth claimed his body of flesh and bone,
Deeds unforgotten, all travellers sight
Zarathustra preserved in regal stone.

He stands in state, rooted history grown
cracked and pitted by Time's powerful bite,
Zarathustra preserved, he stands alone.

Yet note his fame! His greatness ever flown
on the wings of myth, he is Shallam's blight!
Zarathustra, preserved in regal stone.

Humble worms on death's slow needle were sewn
through his corpse, insect and hero unite
Zarathustra preserved, he stands alone.

We all shall come to rest, our spirits blown
where Sarapis dwells. Except one, held tight
in unfeeling, undying stone:
Zarathustra preserved, he stands alone.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Glacian, in the year 377 AF.
