A Prayer
--------
My lady goddess, I pray to you
To guide my heart in my trouble
Never have I known which path
In your realm lay fair and open
If indeed there exist any at all
You are our patron, our champion
Now I entreat you to be my aid
For I dearly need it against my fear
The paths before me are threefold
And all I can see of each shows me
Obscuring fog and darkness there
My lady goddess, grant me succor
Your realm overwhelms my senses
And its wonders shatter my strength
For my heart is no longer my own
In dark dizziness it now struggles
But against what foes? I alone am here
And every wound it inflicts, I feel
I beg you, lady, grant me your solace
The pleasure you offer is pain to me
And your wealth will be my downfall
Anguish and rapture enough to kill.
My lady goddess, I am afraid
Afraid of your subtlety and power
Alone among all the divine realms
From yours I never emerge unscathed
By either the love that can destroy
Or the beauty that inspires life and joy
I ask you now for your compassion
For clarity in my heart and guidance
A candle to light my way in the dark
For the paths before me are myriad
And I know not which to choose.
