Roulette Gambler

A disclaimer: This song in no way refers to the "Gregg" you all may
know. I wrote this song before ever meeting this man and he was kind
enough to read my song and give me the go ahead to post it as long as I
warned everyone that it is not about him. Thank you.

**Roulette Gambler**

Gregg like to bet on the game of roulette
He got a thrill when the ball rolled
And when it would land theyd put gold in his hand
His riches increased ten fold

Gregg became enthralled by that little ball
Whether it would land on red or black
As the ball went round Gregg was watched by the crowd
They knew hed never go back

Gambling was his aphrodisiac
But obsession turned a man into a maniac
And when youre not careful it can stab you in the back
Broke and alone with nowhere to turn
Smoke and fire, its all gonna burn
Watch as his life goes up in flames
No one but himself to blame

Though Gregg was zealous the others got jealous
Every time he would win
But their friendship theyd offer as he lined his coffer
And bought them another gin

But things like luck like to run amuck
And no matter how hard he tried
Things went bad and all that gold in his hand
Ended up on the other side

The friends hed bought with the gold he got
Were quick to leave him be
Now he was all alone with no sort of home
And the now was all he could see

Gambling was his aphrodisiac,
But that obsession turned a man into a maniac
He wasnt careful and it stabbed him in the back
Now hes broke and alone with nowhere to turn
Smoke and fire, it all burned
Look! His life has gone up in flames
No one but himself to blame!

Gregg was a fighter and though his pockets were lighter
Hed soon give it another go
He just had to bash and cash in on some rats
His friends would soon be back in tow

People can lie to themselves and put truth on the shelves
But his bell will eventually toll
Gregg will waste away the rest of his days
Watching as the ball rolls

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Valnuary, in the year 374 AF.
