My Life is Like an Ocean

My life is like an Ocean.
Sinister and Wide...
The waters churning velvet blue
With me so full of pride.

The waters swirl around me
The temperature is cold...
The sky will shine a brilliant blue
The colors sure and bold.

I remember, in my youth
So many happy times.
But one that wasn't "oh-so-great"
Still sticks out in my mind.

When I was just a child
So young, and so afraid.
I was lost from both my parents
My life it seemed, mislaid.

I wandered many an hour
With hunger eating me
That spirit Death would come, I know
Where He was, I couldn't see.

I was tired, scared and lonely
The pain inside so great
I collapsed out on the street
Collapsed out on a grate.

But before the darkness took me
I cried out to the sky...
And made a wish that He could hear.
And let my spirit fly...

When I awoke, the pain was gone
My tearstains washed away...
I realized then, without a doubt...
In my own bed I lay.

Many a night has passed since then
My age is now my guide...
A Guide that shows me nothing
Like a paper with no lines.

I remember that night clearly, though...
Me collapsing on the ground...
When I made my wish to Shadows there...
When I wished to be found.

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Scarlatan, in the year 370 AF.
