Shadows

Shadows

The light flickers upon the mantle
And I look up from to find you gone
A sigh escapes my lips
As I hang my head once more

Shadows of the past dance with my senses
Memories of your sweet scent
Reflections of your form

The Shadows of You tantalize my mind
As the Shadows of Me weep from within
Until Shadows of the past are all that remain

My fragile form so withered and lost
And nothing remains when I look in the mirror
Nothing, except for the past that we shared.

The Shadows of my choices I shall always carry
Like a burden from the then to the now
A weight I shall bear into eternity

Even though as a whisper in the wind I fade
Yet like the memory of our love, I shall linger on
For I shall never forget that kiss,
Nor shall I let fade that long ago night
When I let you slip from my fingers
With no fight but a curse to the Gods

And now I lay and wonder, as I myself slip into shade
If our shadows will meet once more
And if forever we shall dance among the stars
And if we shall be together from the then 'til now
And into the Forever More.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Mayan, in the year 368 AF.
