Wings form behind my skin
while I lay still asleep
glazed over in my midnight dreams...

A sudden pain overtakes my back
oh, it hurts so much...
the tips breaking my skin,
the blood streaming out...

I wake up in a different bed
in different clothes,
a different body, with wings..
How different it seems...

Mother dips the brush in and out of the bloody water...
in and out, in and out...
brushing all the blood away from my wings...
it hurts but small amounts,
but inside I still feel the pain
that took place the night before...

A halo forms above my head
it seems as if I have become but an angel
I never knew angels could carry pain
as well as humans did...

Or maybe an angel...
