A Goblin's Tale

As I lie here, beat and broken
I wish my story to be spoken
If not by me, then by my slayer
Here is my last unfinished prayer

I grew up not far from here
And as a young one I knew fear
From humans who'd enter town
And bring all that we worked for down

Our chief they'd slay without a thought
And girls and boys they've also got
But I survived and when it was done
I brought myself unto Adzun

For in this dungeon work was found
Mining deep beneath the ground
I worked hard and in the caves
I was the master of the slaves

And then came you with weapons glinting
Never speaking, never hinting
That today my life would end
What was the reason, human friend?

You tortured me throughout my life
I never could escape your strife
And so I die, with one regret
That you shall live, and then forget

For I was a living being too
Which you can't see, oh no, not you
But you've ended me, and so I cry
I want to live, I'm young to die!
