This one is for all us teasing Sirens out there!
Within Repose and Sleep
Who is this that quickens upon my gate, to seek refuge inside?
Cloaked as she is in crimson silk and a veil in which her face doth
hide?
Maybe 'tis an angelic being hearalding salvation for my heart
And then again maybe a demoness with words quick, straight, and sharp.
Ring the Bells of Mystery for the wraith doth approach
Jousting with her lance-like air from the reins of her old-world coach.
Over the walls her glance doth fly, besieging all within
Raising my eyes I look upon her and hoped twas not a sin:
"Is this stranger that comes to me within the dead of night,
"Entering my Kingdom with the intention of friendship or fight?"
My question rang out through the night beneath a waxing moon
I held my breath and opened ear, hoping her answer would come soon.
"I need not answer you who would that I were yours to keep,
"For answers will surely come to you within repose and sleep.
"I come bearing from the Hallowed Land a message, nothing more,
"Wouldst thou extend thy hand and open up thy door?"
This creature shivering in the cold had found a place in me
And loosed a wanton desire within that screamed, "Let me be free!"
So I opened the gate and led her in and said but not a word
And as she unveiled her face and uncloaked her body, the voice of Heaven
I swear I heard.
"What is it that makes you silent as you set your eyes on me?
With a voice of silk, so soft and warm, the words issued forth from she.
"I mean no disrespect my lady, forgive my stares of awe,
"For I look you up and I look you down, and find not a single flaw."
"Your words, they flatter me," she smiled, "but as I said before,
"A message I have brought to you to deliver upon thy door."
With the voice of a bard she sang to me the words within her being
Of love andhope and confusion did I listen to her sing.
When she was done she turned and ran, embarassed was she so
And in her fear and embaressment, I swear she still did glow.
"Wait my Lady!" I called to her, "WIll I see you after you flee?"
She stopped and turned and smiled and said, "... we'll see."
