"Patches," I said long ago...
the girl was gone.
The tiny package cried and
cried when put back down
and my heart
broke. I picked it up.

I ran back home
to think
of what to do with this
small furball.
I saw Sif
And thought my problem solved.

I played the charmer
and the cat was hers.

She smiled, her eyes
into mine looked...
I gasped... I knew...
I gave a cat, my
heart she took.

----------------

May you be happy wherever the wind carries your soul, dear Sif.
