My fall

Written by: Seregil

Tried and convicted without a defense
By those I had helped in every sense
Now they're calling me a thief and a liar
And in all their novices they'll soon inspire
A lack of respect for individual rights
They're breeding apathy and those who delight
In solving problems with insults and abuse
Driving people away leaving only the morally loose
And some wonder why others call them "mean"
Well here's an example for one particular dean
You call someone a liar right to their face
Repeatedly and blindly in a public place
And you wonder why they hate you and call you names
When you treat them like children and place all the blame
On everyone but yourself for the things you do
So where's the problem? The problem is you
All I've worked for, all I've lost
In trying to become something regardless of cost
Investing everything against advice from friends
And this is how I'm to be treated in the end?
A guild of performers, kind and just
But you'll never again earn my trust
While I'm still reaching for the knife in my back
That YOU all put there without the slightest tact
But I've still gone to the trouble of not mentioning names
Yet I doubt that anyone else would do the same
Ever the gentleman amongst those around me
And despite my anger I'll keep your anonymity
But you all know who you are and what you've done
Know also that I won't rest until I've won
And all your heads hang down in shame
For your pompous, arrogant, egotistical, game of blame
I stole nothing but you stole it all
My life, my dreams... keep standing tall
Keep talking of honor, trust, and respect
And all of those things you choose to neglect
Hate me, despise me, put me on the cross now
But I will always remember exactly how
I was raped by the system, or lack thereof
Given the boot, dishonoured, disrespected, and unloved
By those I've given everything to
Maybe next time it'll happen to you
But I won't laugh and I won't gloat
I'll just sit watching from my sturdy boat
While you drown in your own sea of misery
When they've done you just like they did me
Ever the gentleman, I'm speaking to you all
All those that is, who were involved in my fall

- The Midnight Poet, Seregil

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Phaestian, in the year 353 AF.
