She is with another
They touch
He holds her
And yet they never meet.
Where did the old love go?
Draining down, out of a
Soul as black as tar
Dripping faucet tears
Confusion, indecision
The feelings, long repressed
Threaten to start anew
He kisses her
She holds him back
Not once has he seen her.
This is not love
How can it be
If they have never met?
The aching does not stop
When first they touch
Within an act of lust
Her chill white skin
Against his hand
It trembles in the dark
Yet all is well
In both their lives
Until that day.
She says one word in fear
And the ceiling crumbles
The walls cave in
White plaster dust
Strangling her
Ivory over ivory over
Red velvet petals
Of pure pain
Alone again
She cries, she prays
As lovers do;
She prays that he cries too.

Unable to Let Go.
