A Renaissance

Written jointly with the lady owning the title.
To be a masterpiece, it needs a good beginning
But what was written in the past transceds the mem'ry's bidding
As the forsaken dawn steals across the silent land
The moon completes its cycle, retreating under sand
Another night has passed in this destitute world
Despite the feeble banners optimism has unfurled
For day brings new hope to an unnoticed young girl
A flooding in of ra'diance as the clam reveals the pearl
With hair of golden sun and eyes of softest hue
She recalled to me again the past; she looked akin to you
Glancing at me in her nonchalant way, moving slowly, as if to avoid the
day
Ago and now merged, and I was afraid
I found reason to flee, but rather I stayed
Penned by my hand on the 20th of Valnuary, in the year 330 AF.
