Introduction of the Night Song and contest...

Addressed to: Everyone
Night was falling quickly. Torches were being lit all around the small
village. A lonf row of torches indicated the palisade wall that
encircled the community. Birds began their night song, and musicians
began to play along with the birds. Flutes of all sorts of woods, soft
drums, and several singers. The song began with a single voice, that of
a woman. Her voice was low at first, sad, slow. Shortly, another voice
joined in, singing a different song, a different melody. Yet, strangely,
both songs together did not create dissonance. More voices joined in
periodically. Soon, it sounded as if the entire village was part of the
music making. In fact, the entire village was. They were all listening
to each others songs, while singing their own. It was the Night Song.
And so, the Night Song begins... what is it, you ask? It is a story of
everyone, of all life, of everything that lives, has lived, and shall
live. Why do I tell you this? Because here is where the Night Song shall
be given to you. From now until the first of Miraman, 331 AF, I am
holding a contest. Send in your Night Song to me in a letter, and I will
post them here for voting. The winner shall recieve a prize, to be
announced at a later date (depending on if anyone even decides to
participate...)
Now, there are Rules to the Night Song (*gasp!*) Yes, there are Rules...
first, the Night Song does not need to rhyme, it just needs to flow
well. It must be about nature, life, events past, or the history or a
deed of some person (perhaps you?). Remember, the Night Song is many
parts interwoven... you only write your Night Song. Hopefully, if this
works the way I've planned, we will have a singing of the Night Song,
where everyone sings their Song. So please, send in your Night Song to
me so I can check it for the requirements (I probably haven't been clear
enough here, but I will let you know later if there is more...)
So start writing your Song now! Remember, from today until the first of
Miraman in the year 331 AF, I will be accepting Night Song contributions
in letter form!
Thank you for reading all this, and I hope you enjoy this little
contest,
