The love left behind

We shared our moments of love
The happiness within me
Was more than I can say
When you dropped down to one knee.

With my wedding dress in hand
And a sparkle in your eyes
The enchanted words you said
Made our eternal love ties.

We shared our times of sorrow
The tears welling in my eyes
When you, with a heavy heart,
Gave me your saddened goodbyes

You promised me you'd be back
And we'd pick up and resume
This offered some consolance
But I was quick to assume...

I spent long and lonely months
Waiting day and night for you
That turned into months and months...
I wondered where you'd gone to...

I feel as though I'm widowed
And people say, "Give up now."
He won't be back, break it off.
But I will not break my vow.

When my wedding dress decays
I say, feeling so alone.
Then I break my engagement.
I wait for you to come home...

Sixty-two months without you
And I get word you've come back.
Although I didn't see you
My heart fills lifted of black.

I rush to find your letter
And wind up empty handed
It seems you had forgotten
You left me here stranded.

I trudge my way back to home
The emotions feeling strong
And I say this to conclude...
All this time... Had I been wrong?

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Chronos, in the year 327 AF.
