Ode to the Women of Achaea

I stumbled into a bar one night, returning from the Cave.
A dozen warriors grumbled there, the atmosphere was grave.

I bought a beer, swilled it down, then bought another round.
The dwarf beside me drained his too, his face an angry frown.
I said to him, "Did you fall too?" "Aye," was all he said.
He drank once more and looked at me, "Beauty left me dead."

I as well, my sorry friend." I bought us both a round.
"She flashed a look of bare midriff, then knocked me to the ground."
"Me as well! I fell for one!" another warrior said.
"Her garter belt had caught me eye and then she split my head!"

We drank till dawn, this somber lot, human, dwarf, and troll.
We drank and swapped our sorry tales of Beauty and her toll.
"Twas a see-through blouse." "Twas heels for me." Sad tales we each did
spin.
"She flashed a leg through a black split skirt, and then she did me in."

So hearken well, warriors bold, 'ware Beauty's wondrous call.
She'll grab your soul and twist your heart, and then you'll surely fall.
But despair not, warrior friends, turn loose you wandering eye,
And gaze upon the Ladies fair, there's no better way to die.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Chronos, in the year 309 AF.
