The coming of the Naga

Visions crept across Sapience, touching people from all walks of life.
Sibilent hissing voices offering them the promise of riches, glory and
power should they but choose to join them. Small snakes began to appear,
crawling out of holes and cracks to slither everywhere.

A massive black snake was found by Mistral, dwelling in a cavern filled
with red fog upon Mount Mhaldor. Inevitably others began to arrive,
drawn by the call of evil. The reptile was sentient and began to speak
claiming that it was a General of Lord Sartan and that it commanded His
armies. It also made odd references saying " A dagger in the dark is
worth a thousand swords at dawn." This puzzled the gathered people of
Mhaldor who continued to question the snake which made threats to those
who did not serve the cause of evil fully.

Flickering its large split tongue, the snake probed all present and its
gaze fell upon Yig, upon whom it stared intently, it did the same with
Mistral causing a shiver to run through them. Suddenly its great head
twisted around and it darted into the shadows to coil and devour a
lurking intruder who hid there and turned with blood dripping from its
sharp fangs to announce that the time had come.

It lashed out suddenly and bit Yig, pumping its venom into his body as
he writhed in agony, it drew back seemingly satisfied and eyed Mistral
who stood frozen in the act of drawing breath to speak. Again it struck
out and Mistral fell prey to the same venom that was killing Yig, it
spoke in a booming voice stating "Forget your past life. Forget your
family. Forget your friends. From this day forth you are Naga. Nothing
else is of consequence, except for the Lord, which is all that matters."
With that the horrific effects of the venom upon Yig and Mistral
transformed them, darkening their features as they began to look upon
others with hatred and confusion.

"This is a gift from our Lord, waste it not or it will be removed."
spoke the massive snake, "I leave the forming of the Naga guild to Yig
and Mistral."

Yig then took the mantle of Epitome of Torment and became the first
guildmaster of the Naga and named Mistral as his first secretary then he
proclaimed across the land his decree of serving to further the cause of
evil.

So it begins.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Daedalan, in the year 315 AF.
