Mirage Made Real

To be one of the Conclave is to strive for the pinnacle of mastery in the mystic arts, no matter one's grounding in the more direct Elementalism, or in the esoteric realms of Shamanism and Spiritlore. To be the Fifth Seat of the Conclave, however, is to be the most junior. And with that comes the responsibility of all the work that the more senior do not deign to bother themselves with.

So it was in Chronos of 839 AF, when Yudhishthira and the Conclave, displeased with the simple telling of stories and relating of history rather than demonstrations of superlative magical ascendancy, chose Pryla'ari to direct their latest experiment under the Dragon's watchful eye. They would channel not just the elements in a grand illusion to remind Sapience of their triumphs, but would reach into the ether and touch a distant place: Memory.

As the tower of Falaq'tor erupted in a pale radiance to blanket the northern horizon, first came Hycanthus, always able, eager, and willing to demonstrate his love for all things fiery. Scores of modified holocaust globes, propelled upon jets of fire as they rocketed into the heavens, erupted in a seemingly neverending display of blazing destruction. Second came O'ising, for it fell to him to direct the tundran winds as the strength of Air billowing south in a gale that left Sapience shivering under its icy, etheric touch.

In the skies above Sapience each of these elements met while beneath them was birthed a grand illusion, a re-enactment of the Reckoning that had seen Pryla'ari's ascension to the Fifth Seat. But the Conclave tolerates no lesser work of magic. Nay, pouring forth from somewhere else came fresh substance, bleeding into and infusing their mirage of the past with solidity, reality.

Their spell accomplished, and their magic once again a success, the Conclave returned to their work while the adventurers of Sapience sallied forth with the challenge of Yudhishthira ringing in their ears: that the intrepid among them might find for themselves an adventure in the memories of the past.

Summary: Working a grand ritual, recent experiments of the Conclave came to a head with a magical demonstration. Summoning forth illusory recreations of Pryla'ari's Reckoning and ascendance to the Fifth Seat, new forays emerged across the continent for adventurers to challenge.

Penned by My hand on the 20th of Chronos, in the year 839 AF.
