The healing of Valnurana

Valnurana, Goddess of Sleep and Dreams, had retreated from the
Garden in the days since Her injury at the hands of Sartan, God of
Evil, leaving Her siblings uncertain and concerned for Her
condition. But the Goddess was ashamed of Her choice to let Sartan
lure Her from the protections of the Garden, making possible the
dire consequences that could have resulted if Sartan had succeeded
in using Her to summon a tangible nightmare to unleash on the
world. And so She had avoided the inquiries of even Her fellow
Divine, and remained secluded deep within the Dreamrealm at all
times when She was not visiting Her order.

Crucible, the Dreamseer of Valnurana, approached Agatheis, the
Elemental Lord, in hopes of gaining His aid to renew her ailing
Goddess's voice. He agreed to research the possible methods of
recreating a Divine voice and set to work, cautioning that He
believed that in time, all hope would be lost of ever returning a
voice to Valnurana. Meanwhile, Erinyes, daughter of Valnurana, sent
word to Phaestus that her Goddess remained crippled. The Divine
Smith eagerly volunteered to lend His help.

And so it was that the pursuit of materials from across the realm
began soon after, with Phaestus directing His order, the order of
Dreams, and a number of other volunteers through the quest to
create new eyes for Valnurana. Great prices were paid, and lives
were lost, but the determined Achaeans worked tirelessly for days
to attain their goal. At last Phaestus was provided with what was
required to craft a pair of living sapphire eyes, capable of seeing
both the tangible and the Beyond. In a tearful gathering not long
after, the eyes were presented and Valnurana was able to look once
again upon those dear to Her. (Public news post 9528 by Crucible
contains a first-hand account of the details of this quest.)

Meanwhile, Agatheis researched away long days to rediscover the
lore of Divine voice. Soon, He proclaimed that He had found a
method, by means of merging the harmonic resonance of living things
with the strength of an elemental spirit's windsong. Quickly, Vand,
of the order of Dreams, set about obtaining living creatures for
the ritual, theorizing that hummingbirds would be most ideal. Then
he was asked to gather highly-regarded representatives from among
those mortals who have attained a degree of mastery of the
elements, for Agatheis said that the wind spirit who would be
summoned must be convinced to give up its power for this cause.

Time was of the essence, so members of the Magi, Warlocks, and
Priests guilds traveled quickly to Agatheis's temple in Delos.
However, disaster struck, as no Sorcerer representative could be
reached and the window of opportunity was fast closing. Agatheis
began the ritual regardless, and all assembled hoped for the best.
But the wind elemental He summoned was stubborn and unconvinced by
the incomplete gathering. Just as failure seemed certain, Agatheis
made a mysterious bargain with the wind spirit, and the being let
its power flow to Valnurana, a breeze imbued with the gift of sound
by the delicate harmony of the hummingbirds. Able at last to convey
Her deep gratitude to those who had made such great efforts on Her
behalf, the Goddess of Sleep and Dreams was at last made whole again.
