Judgement of the Sun

A drop of fire fell from the sun, streaming towards Sapience.

Darkness clouded the stern expression of Ba'relo, a disciple of
Mithraea, his eyes firmly affixed on the glittering streak through the
heavens. Immediately he struck out for Shallam to seek out the allies of
the Sun. There he implored the city for sanctuary, expressing to them
that a rogue solar spirit, a betrayer of Lady Sol Herself, had descended
from the sun and posed a serious threat to his safety.

Meanwhile, the same solar spirit had arrived in the city of Hashan,
claiming to be an ally of Mithraea and that he was in search of Ba'relo,
who had in his possession an artefact that did not belong to him.
Pointed in the direction of the Chrysalis Basilica, he soon arrived in
Shallam, and was brought to the palace where Ba'relo began to expose the
truth.

Indeed, Hujaro had travelled to Sapience in search of an artefact, the
Sceptre of the Sun, which had been entrusted to Ba'relo by the Lady Sol.
To safeguard the sceptre, Ba'relo had placed it within a locked chest
that solar spirits, having no corporeal form, would be unable to open.
Hujaro, however, boasted that Ba'relo's innovation would be worthless
once his new mortal allies arrived to unlock the chest.

Thinking quickly, Ba'relo dispatched Quoren, the Patriarch of Angels, to
retrieve the sceptre with all due haste. While Hujaro looked on, still
believing he was in the right, Ba'relo used the sceptre to call upon the
Lady Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun, and summon her to Sapience once more.

Amidst the scintillating light of the Sun, Lady Sol appeared to the
astonished onlookers. Quickly assessing the situation, she expressed
that while Hujaro had indeed betrayed her, She did not wish to simply
crush him. Instead, the Lady cried out for Justice, whereupon Her
Sister, Miramar, the Even-Handed, answered the call and appeared to
mortals for the first time in decades.

Within the Chamber of Reckoning, Lady Miramar invited the participants
to present their cases before Her. Hujaro regaled onlookers with the
prophecy of a ritual to bring solar spirits into a higher stage of
being. The ritual had indeed been performed, but to no avail, and the
conclusion drawn was that the Lady Sol had interfered in a move to
perpetuate Her authority on the Sun. As a result, Hujaro sought the
Sceptre of the Sun to rally the solar spirits to his cause and to expel
Mithraea forever.

The Lady Sol confirmed the existence of both prophecy and ritual, but
explained that there was never any hope of it succeeding and denied Her
involvement in it. Only Hujaro and his sect's lust for power were to
blame, concluded the Lady Sol, declaring that She could never be
expelled from the Sun for they were as one.

Considering the facts before Her, the Lady Miramar rendered a Judgement
in favour of Her Sister, Mithraea, and decreed that for his crimes
against a Divine and his kin on the sun, Hujaro would spend eternity
empowering the staff that he had sought to steal. Their business
concluded, the newly returned Goddesses returned to the Garden of the
Gods to resume the oversight of Their realms.
