The Four Years' War

From fiery beginning to bloody end, the Four Years' War has dealt a
heavy hand to both the Jewel of the East and the Bastion of the North.

In Ero of 458, the burning of a library by the Church re-ignited the
smouldering fire between Chaos and Light, fanning the flames of
hostility between Ashtan and Shallam. In Glacian of 461, soldiers came
to arms as war officially commenced between the two cities.

Shallam's leaders rallied her citizens beneath the banner of Light,
facing challenging odds to defend their ideals and maintain their
position against Chaos. The coming years would bring much bloodshed as
battles raged between the cities, each side striving to tax the other's
defenses.

In the last months of the war, Ashtan pressed upon Shallam mercilessly.
A final siege decimated the city's guards, and the attackers
relentlessly slaughtered all men, women, and children within her walls.
Finally Sultan Silas Aodh'Maynard consented to negotiate terms of
surrender.

With a public declaration by the Sultan, resolved status for Ashtani
branded enemies during the war, and a tribute of five million gold
sovereigns, Overseer Erhon Lucoster accepted Shallam's submission in
Scarlatan 465 AF, bringing to a close the hostilities begun by the
Light.

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Sarapin, in the year 466 AF.
