Change in policy

Hey everyone,

Over the years we've had a lot of controversy surrounding our policy to not change auction artefacts after release. This has typically been done because those artefacts go for very large sums and we believe that should generally come along with an expectation that it'll retain the value of what you paid for it.

Going forward, we're changing this policy. We do make mistakes and we should fix them when we do so. One of the following approaches will be taken where it applies:

- If it is general functionality as a whole, they may be entirely refunded as a first step with the offer of an alternative functionality on the table through discussion. We are open to ideas in these cases and would like to ease the transition here as much as we reasonably can.

- If it is one facet of the artefact in particular (say, a particularly problematic custom clouds exit), this may be removed and relative compensation awarded or some other functionality as per the above point.

We are aware this will likely drive down the value of auction items going forward, but we also believe that this is the right decision for overall game health and for maintaining a relatively even playing field. This does mostly apply to older auction items (or older versions as and when that applies) in practice, but we will apply it as and when it becomes appropriate to do so. With that in mind, if you are the current lead bidder on any of the current non rp/thematic credit auctions and have concerns in light of this (that is auctions 1, 6, 7, or 8), file an issue in the next 24 hours and they'll be reset with the understanding you will not bid that high again.
